3 Chemical-Free Home Remedies for Damaged Hair
Your hair is just as important as your skin and the products you use on your hair should be chosen with as much care as you take when choosing your skin care products. Unfortunately, hair products tend to contain
just as many harmful ingredients and chemicals as skincare products do, so when you’re at the drugstore it can be a real struggle deciding on the right products for your hair. If you are looking for something to strengthen and repair damaged hair due to bleaching, colouring, or heat damage; then look no further than your kitchen to find amazing home remedies for damaged hair!
These DIY treatments might be cheap, but they are more effective than most products out there and the bonus is that they are free from harmful chemicals!
Natural Hair Protein
Eggs are an excellent source of protein if consumed, but did you know that your hair can benefit from the rich protein just by putting it directly on your hair. When hair is damaged, especially due to bleaching, it is more porous making it is more susceptible to damage. To make your hair less porous you need to put protein back into it and an egg white treatment is the ideal way to do this. All you have to do is apply 2 egg whites that you have mixed in a bowl, onto freshly shampooed, damp hair. Wrap it in a warm towel or saran wrap for about 30 minutes before rinsing. Do this often and your hair will start to feel thicker and healthier.
Regrow Hair Naturally
Coconut oil, unlike other hair treatments, is fully absorbed into the follicles of the hair instead of simply just sitting on top. This means that your hair fully receives all the benefits of the lauric acid present in coconut oil. Lauric acid is a fatty acid that binds proteins in the hair and protects against not just heat or colour damage, but environmental damage too. The best way to do a coconut treatment is to apply it the night before you intend on washing it and allowing it to work its magic all night long. Simply shampoo the next morning and you are done! If you do a coconut oil treatment on a regular basis you can be sure to have extremely healthy hair that won’t stop growing!
Another wonderful oil that is sure to help your hair grow stronger is Sweet Almond Oil . Sweet Almond Oil is rich in vitamin A, E, B, along with proteins, vitamin and essential fatty acids – it nourishes the scalp and the fair follicle, making the new hair that’s coming out healthier and more resistant to external damage. Sweet Almond Oil also moisturizes the scalp, restoring its balance – healthy scalp, means healthy hair!
