When that time of the month comes around many women turn into crazy, hormonal monsters that cry at the drop of a hat and go nuts if someone just looks at them the wrong way.

As comical a picture as that might conjure up, the truth is, dealing with PMS is hard. Especially when you get it worse than most and no one seems to understand.

Fortunately though, there are some tips and tricks to deal with those crazy PMS blues.

1. Take your Vitamins

Certain vitamins are especially helpful during this miserable time. A B-Complex is great to help you deal with any stress or anxiety you feel. B6 is also excellent to reduce water retention.

A magnesium supplement has been proven to help with bad cramps as it relaxes the muscles.

2. Get Physical

As much as you might not feel like exercising, it will be worth it when those endorphins are released and you start to feel a lot better. Grab some friends and go for a long scenic walk, the pretty scenery is an added bonus!

3. Cut the Sweets

You crave sugar more during PMS, but sugar makes all the symptoms of PMS worse, how is that fair? Well you can still satisfy your cravings, but opt for healthier options instead.

Switch ice-cream for sorbet or frozen yogurt and milk chocolate for dark chocolate, which is full of healthy antioxidants and has been proven to boost mood. Avoid refined sugar completely (a good habit to follow anytime), and use honey, stevia, or raw cane sugar instead!

PMS makes a girl tired, very tired. Make sure to get extra sleep so that you feel better a whole lot faster! Melatonin and/or Valerian root supplements can help you get the rest you need.
