As the long summer fun days begin to get shorter we progress into autumn a time that we must really start looking after our skin… The air is dry, the weather gets rough, and all this is reflected in our skin.
This dryness gives way to dehydrated skin and inflammation. This is why eczema, redness, dry patches and psoriasis can also flare up at this time of year.
Luckily, there are many ways to autumn-proof our skin that is both easy and natural! With a few simple steps you can improve your skin in autumn by getting them to;
Drinking lots of water to remain hydrated, with the summer months we are constantly giving bubs their drinking cups but as the weather cools down we think it is not so important to keep them hydrated because we are not trying to cool them down. In fact this is the time that their bodies need more hydration than ever. Room temperature water is fine and should be encourage throughout the day.
The skin needs extra nourishment and protection at this time as the skin retains less moisture because of the cooler, drier air. The same happens indoors as the heater goes on and begins to dehydrate the skin further. So lots of hydrating with beautiful organic nourishing oil will be just the treat that the body is looking for. It is most important to use natural oil as Mineral oil (derived from petroleum) does not properly absorb and therefore further clogs our pores.
A moisturiser that is applied when the body is slightly damp after bathing is one of the main things we can do to improve the condition and feel of our skin. Body milk should be applied over the whole body, concentrating on rough spots including the elbows, knees and feet.
Hydrate the tummy!
While, moisturizing and protecting our skin topically can help prevent dehydration, hydrating from the inside out is also excellent. Nourishing soups and stews are both nourishing and warming making them ideal meals for your bubs.
