Steps to Help Keep Your (Healthy) New Year’s Resolutions!

‘A New Year, a new you!’ or at least that’s what most of us say at the beginning of every New Year. We make resolutions to be healthier, fitter, more energetic, but how often do we really stick to every resolution we make? Being healthier and fitter is essential to everyone’s health and should not just be a resolution, but a permanent way of life. This is easier said than done though.




The good news is that there are small steps you can take to become an overall healthier person, which will leave you feeling great and make you want to continue on the healthy path.

Detoxing or cleansing is a great way to truly cleanse your body of harmful substances and toxins and will leave you feeling like a brand new person. Cleanses usually involve drinking only juices for up to a week before foods are introduced again.

However, if cleanses scare you a little bit and you want to start slowly then why not start by adding these detoxifying foods to your daily diet to get rid of extra toxins everyday and start you on that path to a healthier you.

Lemon Water for Digestion

One of the healthiest things you can do for yourself this year, and hopefully every year after that too, is to start your day with a cup of warm water and the juice of half a lemon squeezed into it, as well as to end your day the same way. Lemons are one of the healthiest detoxifying fruits available to us and will jump start your digestive system in the morning and rid your body of accumulated daily toxins every night. This will cause you to lose excess water weight as well as protect you against every cancer and disease out there.

Super Detoxifying Blueberries

Blueberries are delicious and that’s good news for us, because they are jam-packed with super-detoxifying phytonutrients called proanthocyanidins. Snack on some throughout the day or add to smoothies or frozen yogurt for an extra special treat! Make sure you buy organic, because berries that aren’t are also packed full of harmful pesticides.

Almonds remove Impurities

Not only are almonds packed with vitamins, they also help to remove impurities from the bowel, making almonds a ‘do’ when it comes to detoxifying snacks. Dip them in dark chocolate to truly indulge. Try to buy local, because almonds in the USA are irradiated with gamma radiation before being sold in stores.

Garlic as a Potent Natural Antibiotic

Garlic adds delicious flavour to savoury meals, but it doesn’t stop there. Hailed as one of the most potent natural antibiotics, garlic helps to cleanse bacteria, parasites and viruses from the body especially the blood and intestines. It has anti-cancer and powerful antioxidant properties and is fantastic to clear up sinus infections and the flu fast by cleansing the respiratory system and expelling phlegm from the lungs and sinuses. Make sure you are using raw chopped garlic rather than garlic powder, which has none of the same benefits as the fresh, raw kind.
