Protecting Your Eyes: Understanding Early Ageing
Our delicate eye area is one of the first areas of the face to show signs of ageing. The muscles and skin around the eye area are constantly in use, responsible for continually changing facial expressions along with squinting and blinking thousands of times per day. As we age our natural collagen and elastin production begins to slow down, leading to more noticeable damage to the skin, usually in the form of fine lines and wrinkles.
Most skin care consumers are constantly on the hunt for natural skincare solutions that reduce the signs of ageing around the eye area without injectables. Unfortunately when it comes to skincare alone, there is no magic lotion that will completely reverse the signs of ageing. However, there are under-eye products available that will assist with improving the appearance of under-eye wrinkles, dark circles and help with slowing further signs of ageing. The key to results is finding products that contain the right bio-actives, and using them consistently - along with the right tools!
Gua Sha
Most of us would now be familiar with Gua Sha, but if this is new to you - let us breakdown some of the benefits. The Eastern practice of Gua Sha has been around for centuries and is used to stimulate circulation and combat inflammation – and when used in conjunction with your favourite facial oil and eye cream, can help to infuse active ingredients deep into your skin’s dermis.
Regular use of Gua Sha will brighten, smooth and improve the appearance of dull, lacklustre complexions. It will also relieve tired and aching muscles around the eye area caused by digital strain and headaches. It’s important to use a face oil when practicing Gua Sha to ensure the tool glides over the skin effortlessly, and doesn’t pull on the delicate skin around the eyes. Hold the small edge of the gua sha on a flat angle and gently glide upwards from inner to outer under eye to smooth fine lines. You can also enjoy a tension-relieving massage across the brow bone and in circular motions on the temples.
You can find this incredible skincare tool in LAMAV’s Award Winning Quartz Gua Sha and Roller set. Celebrated for its innate healing properties, rose quartz is linked to the heart chakra and is used to help soothe and treat a number of skin concerns including fine lines and wrinkles, puffiness, tone and texture.
Rose Quartz Facial Roller
If you prefer a skincare tool that doesn’t require face oil, then reach for our Facial Roller within our Rose Quartz set to refresh and smooth the delicate under-eye area after applying your favourite LAMAV serum, moisturiser and eye cream. Our roller has dual ends to cover larger areas of the face, while the smaller end is designed to fit perfectly under the delicate eye area. Eyes feeling puffy? Keep it in the refrigerator overnight in a hygienic bag and enjoy a cooling, soothing massage as you roll away any inflammation before you start the day!
Kansa Wand
Used for centuries in Ayurvedic healing to help holistically balance the doshas—Vata, Pitta and Kapha—Kansa massage works to unblock energy channels, rebalancing and restoring the body’s natural healing mechanisms. LAMAV’s Ayurvedic Kansa Wand is made with sustainable teak wood and bronze that promotes improved circulation and lymphatic drainage to help detoxify and revitalise tired, stressed skin. By incorporating facial massage into your daily beauty routine, you can also help to boost collagen production, reduce puffiness around the eyes, promote increased relaxation and firmer, more toned skin. Here are a few of our favourite Kansa wand Massage movements that your eyes will thank you for:

Complete Your Eye Care Routine with a Boosting Eye Cream
The skin around our eyes, also known as the periocular area, is up to 10 times thinner than the surrounding areas of the face. This area of the face is also lacking oil glands, making it more susceptible to dryness and irritation. When you combine these factors with a decline in collagen and elastin production, you can see why it’s so important to choose natural eye products designed to support this highly delicate area. Applying an eye cream is the perfect way to finish your beauty tool session.
There are so many pain points when it comes to our skin’s health under the eye - puffiness, dark circles and fine lines just to name a few. It’s important to choose the right eye care product that will not only hydrate the under eye area, but also target your specific skin concerns.
Dark Circles & Bags Under the Eye
Dark circles and puffiness is a common problem. Lack of sleep, poor nutrition and not enough water intake can all contribute to dark circles and puffiness under the eyes. In addition to more rest, water and healthy food choices, introducing a brightening eye gel can assist with revitalising tired eyes.
Our cooling, Anti-Dark Circle Eye Gel instantly soothes puffy, tired eyes and will help to diminish dark circles with regular use. Containing Vitamin C, Kakadu Plum, Rumex and Licorice Root, you’ll get a burst of brightening antioxidants that brighten, protect and provide anti-inflammatory benefits.
Pair it with LAMAV’s Rose Quartz Roller that has been cooled in the refrigerator for the ultimate de-puff treat!
Fine Lines & Wrinkles
Fine lines and wrinkles is something that we’ll all experience over time, and whilst there’s no natural way to completely prevent or eliminate wrinkles, the LAMAV Firming Eye Lotion contains 7 potent actives containing proven anti-wrinkle properties to increase firmness and reduce the signs of ageing. This velvety cream will leave skin visibly lifted and toned with regular use and provides instant hydration to sooth and smooth the delicate eye area.
Pair it with LAMAV’s Rose Quarts Gua Sha and Vitamin A Repair Oil for the ultimate skin smoothing experience.
Dry and Sensitive Under Eyes
As the tissue around the eyes is so thin, it can be prone to dryness and irritation, resulting in more prominent fine lines and wrinkles. It’s important to use a deeply nourishing eye product that will not only moisturise, but also strengthen the skin’s barrier.
LAMAV’s Intense Repair Eye Balm was formulated to hydrate, firm and strengthen the delicate eye area. It provides instant hydration to soothe, rejuvenate and brighten dry under eyes. We’ve included some heavy duty hydrators when it comes to ingredients, to provide instant relief and long term age-defence benefits. This is a great eye care product to switch to throughout the cooler months to deliver and lock in hydration when the delicate eye area is starting to feel dry and dull.
Pair it with LAMAV’s Omega Antioxidant Oil and our Kansa wand for a deeply nourishing facial massage that delivers long lasting hydration and soothes sensitive skin.
How to Apply Eye Cream
As the under eye area is so delicate it’s important that you don’t undo all the hard work of your skincare tools and eye care products by applying products in a way that will pull or irritate the skin.
-
Apply a small, pea sized amount of eye cream to one of your ring fingers
-
Warm the product evenly between both of your ring fingers
-
Gently dab the product from the inner under-eye to the outer corner, making sure not to get too close to the eye
-
Continue to gently pat or massage into the under-eye area being careful not to pull or tug at the skin until the product is fully absorbed
Beauty tools are a great add on to boost your skincare routine around the eyes while encouraging a moment of self-care. Less stress is always going to have a positive impact on our skin, so invest in a Gua Sha, Facial Roller or Kansa wand and enjoy a moment of mindfulness while showing your under eyes the love and care that they deserve!
