Why Glowing Skin Matters

Glowing skin isn’t just a trend, it’s a reflection of your inner and outer health. When you implement glow-boosting habits from the inside out it will naturally flow on to your skin’s health. Whether you're aiming for that lit-from-within glow or trying to restore vibrancy to dull, tired skin, achieving a natural glow can be achieved easily with the right habits, skincare, and mindset.

Here’s your complete guide to restore and maintain naturally glowing skin.

Nourish from Within: The Diet-Skin Connection

The gut-skin health connection is real and should be the first area that you focus on if your skin is out of balance. A nourished and balanced body leads to nourished and healthy skin. Some simple ways to boost your gut and skin health include:

  • Focus on Antioxidant-rich foods such as berries, leafy green vegetables and nuts to boost your Vitamin C intake. This will support your skin by protecting it from environmental stress that can lead to dull, damaged skin.

  • Boost healthy fats from foods such as avocados, healthy oils and fatty fish such as salmon. Healthy fats support the stomach lining along with your skin’s barrier.

  • Introduce probiotic supplements and probiotic rich foods such as kimchi, sauerkraut and yoghurt to balance and maintain healthy digestion,

  • Limit high sugar and processed foods as these can quickly trigger inflammation.

  • Increase water intake and maintain 8 glasses a day by drinking filtered water, green tea and nourishing broths and soups.

How To Restore The Natural Glow of Your Skin

Healthy-looking, radiant skin is important for the confidence of every woman.  To help you wake up to your best-skin-ever, every day, we'd like to share 7 essentials rules for a luminous complexion.

1. Regular Exfoliation

This one is a no-brainer, but many of us underestimate the importance of regular exfoliation. Exfoliation removes the dead cells from the skin surface, stimulates cell turnover and removes impurities that your cleanser couldn’t deal with. Getting a gentle scrub, infused with nourishing ingredients is the best thing to start with when you want to improve the overall condition of your skin. Regular exfoliation (2-3 times a week) will make your skin smoother and softer, will improve microcirculation and will give you an instant radiance boost.

2. Hydration

Regardless of whether you have oily or dry skin, hydration is a must. If your skin lacks water, it will look lifeless (just like a flower that hasn’t been watered for days). The first thing in the morning, after taking a shower and brushing your teeth, always has to be reaching for your moisturizer and applying it to your entire face and decolletage.

What to Try: LAMAV Hyaluronic Daily Moisture Creme

3. Sun Protection

Exposure to UV rays, without using sun protection not only damages and dehydrates your skin, but also takes away its natural radiance and makes it appear dull. Always use sunscreen (or makeup with SPF), even when it’s cloudy or rainy. Your skin will thank you later.

4. Try Natural Oils

Oils can be very beneficial, especially for people with dry skin. They help maintain the integrity of the natural lipid barrier of the skin, which is directly related to its ability to retain moisture. Try integrating more oils into your beauty routine (test and find the one that suits your skin best). Apply them morning and evening, after cleansing, and before moisturizer.

5. Don’t Overdo Cleansing

Opt for mild cleansing products, preferably creamy ones. Using cleansers, that contain strong detergents like SLES, can dehydrate your skin and even irritate it. SLS is suspected to disrupt the lipid barrier of the skin and strip it of its natural oils. As a result – your skin loses more water and appears dry and lacklustre.

What to Try: LAMAV Hydra-Calm Cleansing Creme

6. Exercise Daily

There is nothing prettier than the flush of colour on your face after a training session. If you don't have time to spend 2 hours at the gym, even a 30-minute walk/15-minute run is enough. Hello, fresh skin!

7. Look for these Natural Brightening Heroes

Some of the best brightening ingredients in skincare come from mother nature. Look for the following glow boosters in your cleansers, exfoliants, serums and moisturisers:

  • Turmeric

  • Seaweed

  • Kakadu Plum

Lifestyle Habits That Make a Difference

If you really want to glow, you can’t just rely on skincare. There are a few lifestyle choices you can implement daily to ensure your glow is from both inside and out.

Exercise Daily

Exercise increases blood flow and is fantastic for relieving stress and maintaining balanced mental health. If you don't have time to spend 2 hours at the gym, even a brisk walk or quick home yoga session is enough to get the blood flowing and contribute to glowing skin.

Sleep

We all know how great we feel after a solid 8 hours sleep, and for good reason! Not only do our body and mind have a chance to rest and recover, but it can also assist with mood. Nothing gives a natural glow more than a great mood and a happy face! In addition to feeling happy and full of energy, your skin also has a chance to repair and rejuvenate overnight - there’s a reason why they call it beauty sleep!

Hydration

Regardless of whether you have oily or dry skin, hydration is a must. If your skin lacks water, it will look lifeless. In addition to applying moisturiser daily (yes - even oily skin types) it is crucial that you maintain hydration from the inside out with at lease 6-8 glasses of water per day. If you’re finding it hard to drink water throughout the cooler months, increase your green tea intake and implement more soups and broths to boost your hydration.

Quick Glow Tips Before an Event

While there is no quick fix for truly glowing skin, there are a few steps you can take to boost your glow before an event. In addition to remaining hydrated, reducing stress and investing in a good night’s rest before an event, there are some quick skin tips you can implement the day before and the morning of an event to give your skin one last boost.

Incorporate Ayurvedic Skincare Rituals

To ensure your skin is glowing from head to toe, reach for LAMAV’s Garshana Dry Body Brush prior to showering the night before the event. This 5 minute ritual will exfoliate, improve circulation and encourage lymphatic drainage to smooth the skin and give a healthy glow. If you have an extra 10 minutes, finish with LAMAV’s Ayurvedic Body Oils and our signature Abhyanga Massage to relieve tension and deliver deep hydration before rinsing away impurities and excess oil in the shower. Trust us - you’ll wake up with soft, supple and glowing skin from head to toe!

For a pre-event facial, use LAMAV’s Ayurvedic Kansa Wand to indulge in a 5 minute facial massage with one of our facial oils to smooth the skin while relieving facial muscle tension.

Face Masks

The right face mask will deliver instant results, and LAMAV has 2 award winning masks to choose from that will instantly boost hydration and glow. If you have mature or particularly dry skin, take a few moments before bed to apply LAMAV’s Beauty Sleep Mask as the last step in your skincare routine. While you enjoy your beauty sleep, our mask will be working hard to hydrate, plump and rejuvenate your complexion as you sleep.

If your skin is feeling dull on the day of the event, reach for LAMAV’s Glow Beauty mask after cleansing and before you complete the rest of your leave-on skincare routine. Containing nature’s best brighteners including Turmeric, Vitamin C and Kakadu Plum, you’ll enjoy an instant glow with additional anti-inflammatory and deep cleaning benefits.

Self-Tanning

If your skin is feeling a little dull, one of the quickest ways to boost glow and confidence is with a natural, safe tan. LAMAV’s Gradual Tanning Moisturiser can be applied on the days leading up to the event for a natural finish or your can opt for our Self-Tan Lotion for a darker finish. And don’t forget our Face Tan serum to bring a natural sun-kissed glow to the face, giving you a flawless glow from head to toe!

FAQ's

1. How long does it take to see results from a glowing skin routine?

With the right skincare routine and healthy lifestyle choices, you should start noticing positive changes in your skin within a week. However, it can take 1-2 months to see significant and consistent results.

2. Can I exfoliate every day for faster results?

No, it is not recommended to exfoliate every day as this can damage the skin barrier and cause irritation. Exfoliation is recommended 2-3 times per week.

3. What kind of natural oils are best for glowing skin?

Vitamin C delivers brightening and antioxidant benefits while Omega Oils benefit dry skin - delivering hydration and restoring a healthy glow.

4. Is sunscreen necessary even if I’m indoors?

Yes, sunscreen is recommended everyday, even if you are just travelling to work or in the car. If you are remaining indoors you may be able to apply a lower SPF level and just apply in the morning, however if you will be venturing outdoors SPF 50+ is recommended and it is also advisable to reapply if you will be outside through the middle of the day.

5. How can I hydrate my skin if I have oily skin?

Increase your water intake and invest in serums and moisturisers that contain Hyaluronic Acid to boost hydration. You could also implement an oil into your skincare routine, such as LAMAV’s Omega Antioxidant Oil.

6. What is the best time to apply facial oils?

Depending on your skin type and exposure to the sun throughout the day, you can apply oils morning or night. If you have oily skin, it may benefit your skin to only apply at night and avoid using any oils with Vitamin C or Vitamin A if you will be going out in the sun as this may increase risk of irritation.

7. Can exercise really improve my skin?

Yes absolutely! Exercise increases blood flow - delivering nutrients to the skin. It also improves mood and is a great way to naturally sweat and detox.
