The Best Natural Beauty Secrets From Around The World

All women strive to have beautiful, healthy-looking skin and hair. Depending on where they live though, they have different tricks that help them achieve perfect skin and luscious locks. Let’s treasure hunt around the world for the best-kept beauty secrets!

1. Costa-Rica: Orange Juice

Did you know that oranges can help reduce the size of pores? Not only this – they are also believed to increase the production of collagen, keeping the skin looking youthful. Some people mix equal parts of water and fresh orange juice and apply it with a cotton ball onto their skin, leave for a few minutes and rinse off. This homemade toner refreshes the skin and makes the pores less noticeable. Aside from applying orange juice topically, including it in your diet is even better, especially when it comes to reversing (or more like delaying) the aging process.

Speaking of pore-reducing toners, have you tried LAMAV Probiotic Toner?

2. Singapore: Coconut Oil

When I was living in Singapore, I noticed that most women there had super shiny hair. Considering that the climate in Singapore is very humid, their hair should have been ultra-frizzy?! And yet – their locks were sleek and shiny. How was that possible?

After I spent a year there, I found out what their secret was - super easy, yet an extremely effective recipe for maintaining their hair healthy. Almost every evening, they were applying a few drops of coconut oil and leaving it on during the night. The result – good morning, gorgeous, frizz-free hair!

NoteAlways make sure that the vegetable oils you are buying are 100% organic - this is the ultimate guarantee that all of their wonderful properties are fully preserved!

3. Bulgaria: Rose Water

Rose water is very popular in Bulgaria, not only because there, in the so-called Rose Valley, is the home of Rosa damascene. Bulgarian women discovered the magical powers of Rosewater decades ago and they still swear by it. It helps them keep their skin healthy and always radiant. Rose water is wonderful for soothing irritations, balancing oily skin, restoring moisture balance, preventing eye puffiness and whatnot. True beauty multi-tasker!

4. Morocco: Argan Oil

Argan oil is probably one of the most popular vegetable oils to date but I can assure you, it’s has been named “liquid gold” for a reason. Argan oil can be used on the skin as a moisturizer because it has outstanding skin-healing and anti-aging properties. During the colder months, I add a few drops of Argan oil to my daily cream – it works like a charm for my dry, dehydrated, flaky skin. Because Argan oil is very lightweight, it penetrates with ease and delivers moisture and nutrients to the dermis, where they are most needed.

5. India: Turmeric

Turmeric is one of India’s most used spices and it’s not just good when added to food, but also great for your skin. There are many ways to use turmeric and you can find tons of great recipes online. Today I’ll share my personal favourite – a simple, 2-ingredients-only, DIY anti-aging scrub with yogurt.

Turmeric known for its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, turmeric has been used in traditional skincare routines to brighten the complexion, fight acne, and reduce dark spots.

Used in pre-wedding rituals in India, turmeric paste is applied to the bride and groom's skin to give them a radiant glow. Taking inspiration from this tradition, Turmeric is now used in face masks and scrubs, often combined with yogurt or honey for added benefits.

How to: Mix equal parts of turmeric and yogurt, apply to the skin, leave on until it dries and then scrub gently for a minute or two. Rinse off with lukewarm water.

Turmeric is also believed to reduce dark spots and marks left from healed blemishes, which makes it ideal for people struggling with acne and melasma.

6. India: Kansa Wand

With its roots firmly planted in Ayurvedic tradition, the Kansa wand has been around for thousands of years and is a small dome-shaped tool that supports Ayurvedic philosophy – that for holistic health, beauty and wellbeing, it’s essential to balance the mind, body and spirit. The Kansa wand is believed to assist in this pursuit by aligning the Doshas, helping to unblock energy channels and promoting improved health, beauty and vitality.

Made from a sacred bronze metal, the Kansa wand is primarily used to aid in lymphatic drainage and relaxation – making it the ultimate facial tool to add to your repertoire. As our lymphatic system plays such an important role in detoxification, facial massage can help to assist in the removal of toxins, while also boosting circulation and balancing dull, dry or lacklustre skin.

While you can use the Kansa wand morning or night, we recommend using it in conjunction with your favourite LAMAV Face Booster and Face Oil – for elevated results.

7. Turkey: Rose Water

Rosewater has been a staple in Turkish beauty rituals for centuries, valued for its refreshing and soothing properties. In Turkey, rose water is used as a toner to balance the skin’s pH and reduce redness or irritation. It is also added to baths or used in face masks to hydrate and refresh the skin.

Rosewater is known for its delicate fragrance, and in Turkish culture, it is used not only for beauty but also in religious ceremonies and celebrations, adding a sense of tranquility and calmness to any ritual.

8. Japan: Rice Water

In Japan, rice has long been celebrated for its nourishing properties, especially when it comes to hair care. Japanese women are known for their beautiful hair, and traditionally this is known to be as a result of rinsing with rice water. This starchy liquid is packed with vitamins, amino acids, and antioxidants that promote healthy hair growth and improve hair elasticity.

9. Korea: Snail Mucin

K-beauty is all the trend, known for their signature glass-like skin - often created using products that contain snail mucin. Snail mucin, the secretion produced by snails, is packed with nutrients like glycoproteins, hyaluronic acid, and zinc. It helps with skin regeneration, reducing wrinkles, and healing acne scars.  In Korea, snail mucin has been used for centuries to achieve smooth, glowing skin and you can now find this ingredient along with vegan alternatives in a variety of Korean beauty products including serums and sheet masks.

10. China: Green Tea

Green tea has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years, and its beauty benefits are well-known worldwide. Rich in antioxidants, green tea is a potent age defence ingredient that can help to reduce inflammation, protect against UV damage, and promote glowing skin. Now not just for sipping, green tea is now a popular skincare ingredient, offering protection and repair of the skin from environmental stress.

11. China: Gua Sha

Now a popular skincare tool, Gua Sha has been around for centuries and is used to stimulate circulation, smooth the skin and combat inflammation. Traditionally known in China as “scraping” this ancient practice was used to stimulate blood flow, relieve tension in the face when unwell and reduce pain and inflammation. Use LAMAV’s Gua Sha and facial roller in conjunction with your favourite LAMAV face oil to massage the face with added benefits of infusing the active ingredients deep into the skin.
